We hit 3 letterboxes this last weekend, 2 in Long Beach and 1 near
San Diego.
The first was El Dorado on our way down -- what a pleasant little
respite from the urban surroundings (and the relentless LA traffic!).
Saw lots of turtles as well as a green backed heron, among others.
We hit Painted Rocks on Sunday early afternoon on our return home. A
word of warning to those planning on going to this box -- there is
poison oak all over the place. It grows right into the trail where
the trail passes behind the houses, as well as around the letterbox
location! After returning the box we washed up just to make sure. All
is well.
Next on our return home was Shore Bird in Long Beach. We hit this one
at sunset for a delightful time. It was a little cooler out and very
pleasant. (Don & Gwen, the book for this one is just about half
filled up, so you know!).

Hi Team Saulsa
Thanks for info on our boxes. We checked Shore Bird last night on way to
Wendy's Pelican and the Geocache site nearby. Since Shore Bird is close to
home we will keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't run out of paper.
We visited Conejo Open Space several months ago and found the walk
beautiful. We went too far on trail but finally worked our way to the box
site. Several weeks later we tried for Star of Feanor and got skunked. We
beat the bushes and trees for a long time before we gave up and figured it
wasn't meant to be. Got any hints? Hope you can check out our other L. B.
area boxes
plus Squirrel's boxes, especially the one at Mt. Baldy.Regards, Don & Gwen.
